Roller Coaster continues...

After my last post earlier this week, things got really CrAzY around here! I think it may have even started the night of that post, but anyway...I won't go into great details because it is definately T.M.I. So...I will just say, the "visitor" I've had for 20 some -odd days, decided to spice things up a bit, and we almost went to the emergency room at one point. At another point, the nurse at school had to come take over my class because I couldn't teach I was in so much pain. I couldn't even stand up straight. So, after a bawling phone call to my doctor, I got in on Tuesday. And, of course, that is my regular doctor's day off. So, I saw another doctor. In a nutshell, my hormones are ALL OVER the place after going off the clomid. I am taking birth control pills for a month trying to stop some things and level the hormones out. I have been absolutely exhausted and an emotional wreck. However, I must give some major kudo's to my awesome husband here! He has taken such good care of me and even went to the doctor with me. It honestly made me love him even more that he was so concerned about me. Seems like such a small thing, but it's BIG to me! It's nice to know you are loved. And, in the midst of all this craziness, one of my friends had a precious baby girl and another had a baby shower this week. Now, you would think with my hormones all over the place that would have sent me to the bed! HA... But, NO, I actually got to be happy for my friends (an answered prayer thank you very much!). Take THAT hormones! :)

Here's where we are...

...and some of you are going to like it and others it will drive insane. But it is the road the Benson's are taking. We are all entitled to our opinions - just keep them to yourself unless you agree with us! ha! Seriously, I will keep this short and sweet and try not to hit the T.M.I. category, which is hard to do when talking baby stuff! :)
Here's the baby status in a nutshell: I have some issues going on (as in, I've had that "visitor" for 18 days straight now) and Kevin has some issues going on (abnormalities in the analysis). So....in our minds, we are a year and a half into this journey and we are TIRED and things aren't fun anymore. We are taking a break from all things infertility. No more clomid. EVER! No more ovulation kits. No more counting days. No more worrying about it. We are taking a break from it all, and we are just going to PRAY about it. I mean, in my mind, I think we both have issues, so it is going to take a miracle from God for us to get pregnant anyway. Why not just give it all to Him to handle? I mean, think how awesome it will be when we can give Him all the glory! Happy Day! :) So, there you have it. Get irritated at us for not going to the urologist and doctor all you want. We are taking a break. We are just going to pray. Feel free to join us if you want!
Big, big love and thanks to all who are sticking by us in this journey!

Weekend

We had a most uneventful weekend...those are good to have every now and then. We were supposed to go watch our high school team play football on Friday night, but I have not been feeling great because of some 'girl issues' so we stayed home. And, my heating pad was my best friend on Friday night. BUT, it was all made better when Rex's buddy, Chase, came over to spend the weekend with us so his foster momma could go see the Hogs play. This was probably the last time Chase will get to visit as he heads to his forever home next week. Yay for Chase! Hope they realize what a great dog they are getting! Other than the excitement of having two boxers in the house and the near win of the Razorbacks, that is about the extent of our weekend. Exciting stuff huh? :) Next weekend is scrap weekend and I think we are taking the pups on a hike. Should help us have something to look forward to as the work week hits!

CluEleSs!

Actual conversation in our house this week:
Kevin: Why are you vacuuming? You just did that two days ago.
Me: I am trying to do better. When we have a baby we are going to have to keep the floors cleaner. A baby can't crawl around in this.
Kevin: You mean a toddler. Babies don't crawl.
Me: No, it will be crawling by the time it is 3 or 4 months old.
Kevin: You have no clue either. Do you?
Me: Not a ONE!
(Insert our bursting into laughter here)

So....when do babies start crawling? Ha! And, how did we get to be 37 years old and so clueless about babies!?!

Yep, it's all true...

My name is Rex. And, I can't swim. (but the lab swims like a pro) It was ME that tore up the ottoman. (I tried to blame the lab tho!)
I got into the trash AFTER I escaped my kennel. No denying that one, the lab was safely in her crate.
But I love playdates with other boxers...or other dogs of any kind. (and the lab doesn't...so ha!)
But I forgot, I also like to dig. Lucky for me, I can always talk the lab into helping with that.
So, after all that, who do you think ate the dishtowel & has been sick since Thursday and cost their mommy and daddy $118 at the vet today? Yep, it was me. The boxer, not the lab. I am really costing my mommy in this lab vs. boxer battle. Lucky for me though, no matter what I do, she will always think I am the best! :)

Book Catch Up...

*This is book #14, 15, & 16 for the year. I read two of them while we were in Florida & half of another one. Then, school started, I got sidetracked and just now finished it. I am finally feeling semi-caught up at work and leisure reading may resume! :-)

Real Quick: The two Sydney Sheldon books I read were "The Other Side of Midnight" & "Rage of Angels". The entire time I was reading "The Other Side of Midnight" I felt like I had read it before but still couldn't remember how it ended. So, I kept going. Both are typical Sheldon novels, a few twists and predictable in lots of ways. I consider these my light reads.

Now, the good stuff ~ I think this one is worth checking out:
The Innocent Man by John Grisham
From the John Grisham website:
John Grisham’s first work of nonfiction, an exploration of small town justice gone terribly awry, is his most extraordinary legal thriller yet.

In the major league draft of 1971, the first player chosen from the State of Oklahoma was Ron Williamson. When he signed with the Oakland A’s, he said goodbye to his hometown of Ada and left to pursue his dreams of big league glory.

Six years later he was back, his dreams broken by a bad arm and bad habits—drinking, drugs, and women. He began to show signs of mental illness. Unable to keep a job, he moved in with his mother and slept twenty hours a day on her sofa.

In 1982, a 21-year-old cocktail waitress in Ada named Debra Sue Carter was raped and murdered, and for five years the police could not solve the crime. For reasons that were never clear, they suspected Ron Williamson and his friend Dennis Fritz. The two were finally arrested in 1987 and charged with capital murder.

With no physical evidence, the prosecution’s case was built on junk science and the testimony of jailhouse snitches and convicts. Dennis Fritz was found guilty and given a life sentence. Ron Williamson was sent to death row.

If you believe that in America you are innocent until proven guilty, this book will shock you. If you believe in the death penalty, this book will disturb you. If you believe the criminal justice system is fair, this book will infuriate you.

What makes a happy wife?

A clean house. Yep, it's that simple. And yet....will it last? :) Our house was filthy and pretty much gets that way about 2 days after we do a big cleaning. It's because we have 4 furkids and someone who doesn't pick up after themselves (not naming any names). It snowballs quickly and some days I fight the battle and others I cave into the messiness. Well, Friday, I came home determined that by the end of the weekend, I would have a spotless house. (Insert here about how much I miss having a cleaning lady!!) I am pretty sure by Saturday night Big Bear hated me but the house was clean! Ahh....and for now, it still is. Trust me, I am enjoying it while it lasts!! So, that's our weekend and in my mind, it was a good one! Why?
1. I got a clean house (even though I had to work for it).
2. I watched and actually enjoyed the Hog game. And, we won!
3. Church this morning was AwEsOmE!
4. I managed to not do school work all weekend for the first time since school started!! Whoop!
5. I actually was able to read a book for leisure for the first time since our Florida trip. Wow!
6. I managed to get a nap in today....even if I did have company squeezed in with me. Ha! How many more can we fit in the chair?
Here is the lesson from this weekend : a clean house = a happy wife & a happy wife = a happy life! Heehee!

Rambling...

**First I might rant though!! It is Thursday and on Sunday night my Mom ended up in Urgent Care and was sick from the pain of a kidney stone. A stone that it turns out is too big for her to pass on her own and needs to be broken up. They scheduled her for Wednesday, then called and moved it to tomorrow and THEN today, they called and said the equipment was STILL broken and they had to move it to NEXT Wednesday!!!! Meanwhile, my Mom sits around in pain and isn't able to do anything. My Mom isn't good at sitting still...she is always on the go. (That's why she is so skinny! ha) I am frustrated for her but what can you do? Once again, I will say that insurance is a J.O.K.E! She can go to a different hospital in the same town, but insurance won't cover it there. Urgh!!!

**Kevin's test results are back. Here is a funny ~ I played phone tag with the doctor for two days, so this morning I went in and asked my principal if I could just keep my cell phone out today so I wouldn't miss the doc's call. And, of course, the call comes just as the kids come in from recess. So, I had 20 3rd graders in the room! LOL! I told the doctor if I asked any questions, they would be in code so little ears wouldn't hear! :) We are going on to a urologist for a little more testing. The actual count is good, so some of the abnormalities could just be from him being sick lately. All in all, a good report (let me insert here that sometimes internet research on your own is not your friend and could just start getting you stressed)...as soon as I felt the anxious thoughts starting in, I said to myself - nope! Done with all that...just going to pray about it. That is all we are going to do for awhile. Yep! :)

**In other news, wish me luck in bringing ZERO work home for the weekend and actually getting this house CLEAN! I really hate that my house is always a mess these days, but not enough to clean it every single day of my life! Oh, how I miss having a cleaning lady!! Hopefully soon, we can pay off some of the business debt and hire a new one. A girl can dream...I don't ask for much! ha!

**Have a good weekend! Sooo...glad tomorrow is Friday! Go HOGS Go!

One more time...

I know I've been asking for prayers a lot lately, but come on, you gotta love the power of prayer and seeing how they get answered - right?
Here's two more to add to your prayer list and then I might leave you alone for awhile! Maybe...

First, pray for my Mom. She has a bad (big) kidney stone. And, to make matters worse, her procedure to have it busted up got moved to Friday. So, she will be dealing with pain until then. Keep her in your prayers. It is NOT easy for my momma to sit still and rest.

Second, go to this blog & read this girls story. What a beautiful girl! I don't even know her. My sister-in-law is friends with the family. Let's pray for her. Click here - Prayers for Elizabeth

Decisions

Well, I have passed my day to start clomid this month and am NOT taking it! Woohoo! I am not going to miss it one little bit! (I'm sure Kevin won't either!!) Kevin went for his appointment today, and apparently we can call tomorrow and get the results for that. Oh, how I pray it is not anything with Kevin that is holding up the baby progress! Anyway - we will see where we want to go from here after we know those results. For now, we are just taking a little break from the stress of it all and giving it over to Him. We are just going to pray about it (well, and that other thing we need to do! ha!). But no more clomid, no more ovulation kits, no more worrying...DONE with it! What happens will happen! :)

The whole hog...

Kevin's catering tonight was for a whole hog...not something I enjoyed seeing. I have to say I'd rather NOT see where the yummy meat comes from....groosss! Guess that's the girl in me because all the men were loving it! It did look a little better dressed up for display though.
Now that I've seen it done, I hope I skip any future whole hog caterings...can't help but think about Wilbur when I see the whole pig!! :(

Praise Report

I have to stop and give a shout out to my husband, aka Big Bear, aka Kevin. :) On this night two years ago, I was walking out of Open House to hear a phone message that Kevin was in jail for a DWI. He spent the night in jail because I didn't go get him and he walked all the way home the next day. It was a horrible night and it was a pretty bad summer leading up to that night. The drinking was out of control. Our lives were out of control.
Flash forward 2 years, tonight he is at John 3:16 Ministries helping them with a catering. He is sober and doing his best to keep the demons away and stay that way. He is working with youth at our church on Sunday nights and is on the cooking team at church. And, we have a home church and a pastor that we love. What a difference it makes when you let go and let God!
I praise Jesus for John 3:16 Ministries, second chances and a husband who loves me. I know I am lucky to have a husband who is my best friend and would rather spend time with me than anyone else. I am blessed and owe it all to Jesus! :)

Please say a special prayer for my Granny as she lays her husband of 38 years to rest on Tuesday. I cannot imagine what she has felt over the past few days or will feel in the days to come. My heart breaks for her. Please pray for my family to have comfort and peace in the coming days & weeks. Clarence Mack

Prayer List

Prayers are so powerful!
When you pray, pray for my family tonight. My Granny needs strength for the days ahead of her.
Pray for peace for my school and wisdom for our leader.
Kevin made his doctor appointment for his fertility check-up. His appointment is Tuesday. Pray for him.
Pray for comfort for my momma.
Pray for my BFF, Michelle, as she adjusts to having an infant in the house again and not getting any sleep! :)
Pray for me as I decide if I am going to take clomid again or just stop.
Nothing can compete with the power of prayer!
