Just passing through...

So, BoxAR was in desperate need of a foster home. And, they HAD to attach pictures (even puppy pictures that aren't that good get me!) I'm a sucker and so is my mom! Kevin is less than thrilled but these two 7 week old boxer mix babies will be staying with us a few days this week until I can get them to my Mom to foster. I'll get better pics while they are here...Rex is gonna be in heaven!! Oh, the puppy breath! :) Know anyone that needs a puppy? They are up for adoption. Go here for more information. Meet Buffy and Jody!

Last Game

This was our last week of Upward Basketball...I totally cried last night! What a wimp I am! I get too attached to kids to have to say goodbye!! But how could I not? Look how stinkin' cute they are: I took notes during the games so we would know who to give out stars to after the game, so I never had time to take pictures. Since Saturday was our last game, I made myself stop and take some pictures and video so I could look back and remember these moments and these boys. This is by far my favorite picture from the day and this little boy just stole my heart....
We had 7 boys on our team and 7 different personalities...they really were funny. Our team name was the Sharks and I think the best quote from the season was when we were getting ready to play the Huskies. Ty said, "The Sharks are hungry and Huskies taste good." Ha!It was next to impossible to get all of them to cooperate for a picture...when Kevin asked Marshall why he got under the table he said, "Because she had already taken one picture and one is enough." Ha!
Love these boys...Thursday for our practice we had two boys show up amidst all the tornado warnings and we still had fun. Kevin and I played them 2 on 2 and once again I realized how out of shape I truly am!Tomorrow night is our Awards banquet and then the season is officially over. :( I can only hope that I made as much of an impact on these boys as they did for me.

Whirlwind Weekend

It was a busy weekend full of serving Jesus!! That's the good busy! :) I'll just give you the highlights...
*Funtastic Friday was pretty awesome and exhausting at the same time. By the time we got home, I had put in about a 15 hour day and felt every bone and muscle in my body throbbing. But it was totally worth it! One of our Upward Basketball players came and watching him dance and sing during the devotion time was priceless! I also made a new friend, a most precious 6 year old who for some reason attached herself to me and Big Bear and was our little side kick all night. She thought it was so funny when she figured out we were married! ha! And, guess what? Her mom was 39 when she had know I am always uplifted when I hear things like that!! :)
*Saturday our kids played awesome for the Basketball game. This upcoming week is our last week. I am going to miss these kids!! It's going to be hard to say bye. I don't think Big Bear realizes it yet. And, in more good news, one of our Upward players came to visit our church today! Yay!! Awesomeness!!

I do have one request - pray with me about this hospital bill from my surgery. I got the letter from my doctor on Friday to send in and appeal their denial and coding. Pray it does the trick. This owing $6000 that I can't pay AND shouldn't HAVE to is a worry I want to disappear!

PS. There is a new post over at the BoxAR blog. Click here or in the sidebar to read. You might see someone you know! :)

Make-up Week

This week is just crazy busy trying to fit in all the make-up's from our blizzard last week. And in true Arkansas weather...blizzard last week and single digit temps, this week 70 degrees. Yep!
Yesterday, I made up 9 parent/teacher conferences after school, one today, and I think 5 tomorrow...I'll be close to done! Whoot!
Today, we made up our Upward game. FUN! The kids played sooo good! And one kid was cracking me up. He was having a GREAT time but not paying any attention to the game at all. At one point he was running up and down the court with head back and giggling. Cuteness! He was having the best time but had NO clue where the ball was! Ha!
Tomorrow, we have Funtastic Friday at church. This will be my first time to volunteer, but Kevin has done it a few times. It's pretty cool. I only wish we would have had a kid area like at our church when I was little. I need to get some pics...pool tables, basketball courts, concession stands, rows of tvs with video games hooked up, arcade name it, they have it. Then for Funtastic Friday, they set up all these blow-up things and rock climbing. Parents can drop off their kids and go have a date night. I should be good and tired by tomorrow night! ha!
After Upward on Saturday, we are going to have to do something to enjoy this awesome weather!!! And, at some point, I need to slow down and clean this house and grade some papers!

My Valentine's!

We honor Valentine's day the day after around here to avoid all the crowds!! Kevin's Valentine was a night off from cooking and I took him to dinner. And I walked in from work to find this:
Kevin said I am probably one of the only women in the world that would get excited over a wheelbarrow. Heehee! I love it! I have wished for one of these for years and now I have one! Awesome! I'm ready for some yard work now!! Whoot! And, the flowers are just a nice bonus! Happy Valentine's Day!

Only in Arkansas...

...will you see a post with snow pictures and over 7 inches of snow followed by sunshine pictures and being outside with no coat on!!! Seriously, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were snow blanketed days (fun days though!) and today and yesterday, we have been outside enjoying the sunshine with temperatures nearing 60 degrees!!! Crazy!! The pups and the cats have all been outside soaking up the sunshine and as I soon as I stepped out back, Stella immediately found her tennis ball! ha! You can see the last of our snow castle in the background here... I can totally hear Rex saying "I don't know why she is so nuts about that ball!" And Stella saying "pllllleeeeeassssse throw it one more time!" LOL!
Nala ... heehee... that face is why everyone is so scared of her! She can tell Rex to back off with her eyes! :)

Snow Fun!!

This has been a fun snow...the kind you get to play in! We got 7 1/2 inches here and have been snowed in for two days. It is still super cold today but the sun is shining, so we might be able to get out by tomorrow. Wonder how many parents will show up for parent/teacher conferences tomorrow? ha!
We spent day 1 (when the snow was steady coming down all day) having snow ball fights with the neighbor kids. The little ones next door think Big Bear hung the moon and it was fun watching them grin and scream and run! Then, the big kids got involved and we had to retreat! Day 2 was operation Hog snow is complete and I am pretty sure my toes were frozen solid by the time we finished. :)The pups are always ready to play in the snow...they have ran and wrestled and ate snow for 2 days! They got wise and started coming over the fence at us...we grabbed a pan and just filled it up and started dumping it on them!Look out Big Bear! Run!!
Getting ready for our sneak attack...we stockpiled 27 snowballs and snuck up to the fence with buckets. Then, counted down and came over the fence at the same time and bombed the kids with snowballs. They loved it!
It's been fun, but surely that is the last snow of 2011?!?!

Happy Birthday to ME!

I had a most awesome birthday of my kids in my class shares a birthday with me and we had fun! Our Valentine party was yesterday, so it was a fun day. Plus, we were all anticipating the snow to come!! Snow-plosion hits Arkansas!!
Big Bear took me to dinner at my favorite restaurant, The Faded Rose, and got me a cool new phone...the blackberry Torch (that I can't quite figure out how to use yet! ha) AND now it is snowing and I got to sleep in the next pics to come later from a beautiful snow day!! Happy Birthday to me - day 2! :)

Where are we...

...on the Benson baby front?
Well, it's been awhile since I've updated on this topic because quite frankly, it has been on the back burner. Seriously, as soon as we decided to put a stop to all "extras" with doctors and medicine and just pray about it, things got a little sidetracked. Let's just say we've had a 4 month hiatus. First, I had the female "issues" for 2 months straight from going off the clomid!! I don't even want to go back there in my memory. Nightmare! Then, literally as soon as that got straight, we had the cancer scare and surgery. I am just now healing from the surgery. So....when people have asked lately how the baby thing is going, we are kindof like "what baby thing?" Honestly haven't thought about it. Now, things are starting to settle down around here health wise (and vehicle wise and money wise)...hopefully!! So, that being said, we will get back on the baby bandwagon, but not in the stressful way of before. If it happens, it will be the happiest blessing ever. If it doesn't, we are still blessed. I have been curious about adoption/fostering lately and I am not real sure what that is about. Not sure yet if it is ME or if it is God trying to tell me something. So, I am still praying for clarity on it. It could totally be me and my fear of infants and trying to tell God - "hey, can you just send me a 2 or 3 year old and we'll be good?" LOL! Anyway - keep on praying for us. (And feel free to put in a request for me to have a fat baby like my BFF's....look at these legs...can you say PRECIOUS!!)

Snow days!

Stella emptied the ice out of her water bucket and it was like a new toy! It's the little things!
I think we may be going for a record this year!! We got a snow day on Friday and usually I am all about the anticipation of a possible snow day. This one I was clueless about and totally surprised. Kevin came to bed late Thursday night and whispered to me to look out the window in the morning before I got ready because the news was saying 60% of snow. So, I did. I got up and looked outside. Nothing! I may have stomped to the shower pouting...not sure. So, I got ready (I don't turn the tv on in the mornings because most mornings Kevin is still sleeping). I get my breakfast and log onto to facebook and see school is out. What?!? Then I turn on the news...oh, it's coming. And, bam! Good thing they cancelled because it came within the hour and the schools that didn't cancel were sending kids home within the hour. Nightmare! The roads got bad and I have been snuggled in at home for a day and a half now and loving it!! My husband on the other hand gets cabin fever and has been out and about. It's a man thing!
Now, they are calling for snow tomorrow night and again on Wednesday...we are at 3 1/2 snow days now...the question many will we have total? This is crazy! We've NEVER gotten this much snow. I kindof like it!! Maybe one more round and I'm done! ha!

I just want to go on record that I am so glad we signed up to coach an Upward basketball team. At first I wasn't too sure because we all know I can't play sports and don't even know the basketball rules. But, I am really loving these boys and can't believe we are half-way done...I am really going to miss these kids!! I am pretty sure that tonight's practice ruined any progress I had made in getting my voice back! Ha! (It has gone from a whisper, to a squeak, to raspy...maybe by the weekend, I'll be back to normal!) Anyway - tonight was humorous. They were hyper and fouling left and right. Some of them are so competitive and some are just in la-la land. They are pretty cute...we get our picture made at the next practice. I keep forgetting to take my camera so I'll have to share our team pic. Tonight the devotion was about giving your heart and life over to Christ. I think I did ok...Kevin was a big help. It is SO hard to hold the attention of 1st and 2nd graders ON a basketball court after running around practicing. They were excited to get their bracelets with their Upward stars on them that are to remind them of what we talked about tonight. Why is sharing Jesus so much easier with kids than adults? I love the innocence and belief in their answers.
Tonights devotion verse was a favorite ~ John 3:16 For God so loved the World He gave his only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

I knew that the medical bill situation from my surgery was just too good to be true...they were just too "payable". Well, then came today and BAM! Of course, just as I need to be gathering sales tax for the Tahoe, but that doesn't matter because I couldn't pay this one even if I wanted to. First of all, it is total bogus!!! Today I got a notice from my insurance company that they wouldn't cover $5,947.85 of my surgery due to it being a cosmetic procedure. Huh?!?! I wasn't aware I had a cosmetic procedure. NOR, did I elect to have this done! It was pre-cancerous growth and I am still not healed from it. The surgery was December 9th!! Would I do this to myself ON PURPOSE?!? For cosmetic reasons????? Ummm....I am going to go with NO!
So, I have zero voice at the moment. For some reason, I lost my voice yesterday. And, yes today, I completely taught my class by typing on the smartboard all their directions and what I needed to say. Good times! As soon as I get my voice back, I will be calling to get this cleared up. Insane!!!!
