Big Bear's Upgrade!

So...I'm running a little behind. Just managed to take some pics today to post. It's that crazy time of year for us when concessions is every weekend and on the brain 24/7. I think we are set to go though...and here is Big Bear's upgrade that pulled the concessions trailer today with our new fancy weight distributing hitch! yay! Sooooo much nicer that what he has been driving! :) I'm proud for him!

I mean, we would have spent $3,200 on REPAIRS alone for those two '89 beasts in a year! ha!

Kevin (for whatever reason) still loves his '89 Suburbans. You know, the ones he affectionately refers to as Meatzilla (the red one) and The Bride of Meatzilla (black/grey one). I refer to them as "a break down in the making while driving around on may pops!" I will NOT miss them. He will. Today in the midst of tornado warnings and crazy weather, we went and got him a '99 Tahoe. Yep, he's moved up 10 years and has air conditioner for the first time in 4 years! Look at the sky as we left the house... And here is the sky as we get home...maybe 45 minutes later...oops! We were driving back with lightning striking everywhere and Kevin saw a wall cloud at county line. Sirens going off like crazy!

And, there it is...his new ride. You'll have to wait until tomorrow for a better picture because after all, a tornado was about to hit!
Best part is that the selling of the other two should pay for this one! He did have it checked by a mechanic today. Hopefully, we are out of going to the shop ALL the time! Thank you Jesus!

Weekend in Snapshots...

Short, sweet and to the was a good weekend! Our last leisurely one for awhile to come!! Friday night was scrapbook night and for the first time in forever, we had a full house. Almost everyone was here. Rex was completely relaxed for the event! (I mean, he is used to going to bed by 9:30 pm! ha)Saturday, Kevin had a wedding catering that included finger sandwiches, so I happily sampled for my lunch and whatever he did to that lettuce made it super yummy!I did a little shopping and got a skirt for my teacher of the year banquet next week AND hit an awesome sale at Hobby Lobby for scrap supplies! I LOVE the albums I got for 2011 at 50% off thank you! Everything I bought was 50% off! Sweeeeet!Today, we got up for the sunrise service and then went and had breakfast and went back to church for early service and Sunday school. :) After a good Sunday afternoon nap, I got to use my new electric weedeater and we got some yard work done! I love, love working in the yard and flowerbeds. My pond is my favorite...

I tried to get a picture of the new fish...but I can't get the dummies to figure out to come up to the top and EAT! This is the best I could Big Bertha (disappearing under the plant), Curly, Moe, and Dottie (the white one with the Dot...we are creative!).
Stella made a solemn promise to stay out of the pond area AND the garden area!
We put up a little fence around the garden just in case she changes her mind!Plus, we couldn't get the promise out of her brother! Green beans are coming up! yay!

And, we are all happy campers! Hope everyone had a good Easter and praised Jesus for all he gave for us!

Here we go again!!!

Last week, tornados and now here they are again! BOOOO!!! I hate 'em! Of course, last week, we peacefully slept right through them. Tonight, I went out to eat with my cousin and Kevin texted and told me to get home. Then, to the closet we went! 2 dogs, one mad cat and me! The dogs aren't too worried though...LOL! In more pleasant thoughts...first blooms are coming up!! Love Spring! :)

Loonng Day, but a good one!

Today was honor roll field trip day and it was to a baseball game! F.U.N! And, look at these awesome seats we had!!! No complaints here (except, I learned real quick not to expect to get to watch a game with kids!! ha) After the game, I had a meeting followed by Bible Study and then errands for Big Bear...and now, look - it's 9 o'clock and time for me to hibernate for the night. Until tomorrow... :)

Beth Moore Conference

I don't think I can even put into words what I experienced this weekend. Powerful! Awe! Amazing! At times, I was overwhelmed with pure love for Jesus. I lost count of how many times I got goosebumps. I know the Holy Spirit was present. At times, I just wanted to cry tears of pure joy. There is no way to describe 8,500 women all praising and worshipping Jesus together except to experience it. To hear Verizon ALL singing and lifting up His name. Wow! I loved it! The theme was "Fulfill My Ministry" and we were asked what we wanted our life goal to be. What is our purpose for being here? God has a plan and purpose for all of us. I know why He placed me there this weekend, it is time for me to stop waiting on others and get out there and do it myself. It is time for me to step up and help spread the good news! I love Jesus and want to shout it from the rooftops! I always want to be on fire for Him! :) Here is my favorite praise song from the weekend...give it a listen. Her praise team was AWESOME!!

Simba Memories

The humans around here aren't the only ones that miss him! :(
Today, I picked up Simba's ashes...and it made me think of some of my fondest memories of him. Ones I don't want to forget and yet know as time passes, I will because I have a horrible memory. Hence, the reason I blog!! I will probably keep coming back and adding to this as I remember things about him that make me smile. I want to remember ~

  • the way whenever I was reading a book or magazine of any kind, suddenly a little Simba face would push through the bottom of the book at me to say hello.

  • the way he would trick people by rolling over so they could pet his belly and then he would "attack"

  • how he bossed us around and talked back with his "meow"

  • without fail, EVERYTIME, I sat down on my glider outside, here he would come to get in my lap.

  • how we always knew when he "did his business" because he would come FLYING out of the laundry room and run to the other end of the house as fast as he could!

  • that he slept on my pillow every night so I'd pile up two of them just right for him to have space and me too.

  • how he greeted people and demanded to be paid attention to - just like one of the dogs.

  • how he somehow knew when I was eating ice cream and begged to lick the bowl when I finihsed.

  • he could smell a can of tuna being opened no matter how far away he was and the meowing was ON!

  • oh, how I miss the sound of that purr!! and the little black freckle on his nose...

  • and I know without a doubt I won't forget all the hunting excursions and bringing in lizards, snakes, rats, mice, frogs....mostly frogs and lizards thank goodness!

  • how he was best buds with Rocky and would greet him every morning by rubbing on his face. A cat who loved his rottie! :) Oh Simba, how you are missed! He was one big personality and lived life to the fullest. He kicked butt and took names on a daily basis. He could annoy you like a little brother and yet, you loved him for it.

  • The memorial garden didn't quite work out. I came home yesterday to disaster from puppies digging if you get my drift. They were severely punished. I was crying. Kevin was in trouble for not kenneling them. It was ugly. Rocky and Jax's ashes are safe though. And, I'm really not sure what to do with them now. Hmmm.....

  • It's benchmark testing week. All I can say is that I hope my kids give the same effort they did today ALL week!

  • And, I am looking forward to Beth Moore conference this weekend!

  • In scary big news, Kevin and I have set a goal of one year to opening a store front. Yes, you read that right. We hope to open a store front in one year...where? We don't know. How? We don't know. Lots of plans though and we know it will all work out if we are following God's plan.

  • And, that's all I got right now folks.

Another Full Weekend

But this one was less stress and more of what I like to do. And since I have been a hormonal wreck all week, that was probably for the best! ha! Friday night, Kevin's parents came to town and we went to the Gideon's State Convention dinner. The only bad part was that we got there on time and all the tables were pretty much taken so we didn't get to sit together. :( But, the speaker was awesome and the testimony was too. It is amazing what ONE little Gideon New Testament can do and how many people's lives it can affect. After some quality family time Saturday morning, Kevin and I made a road trip out to the pond store. It is a BEAUTIFUL drive out there and such a neat place with all the ponds, fish, cats, name it! I think we stayed for almost 2 hours!! We added four new goldfish to the pond (Big Bertha, Dottie, Curly and Moe). Big Bertha is about to unload some eggs!!! And we got some new plants much to the delight of our many frogs!! Check him out: My pond area is my absolute favorite place in the backyard. And now that Kevin has been to the pond store with me, he sees why I want an even bigger pond at our next house! :)
After tackling the pond, I got to work on a project that I have only just now been able to bring myself to do. I made my memorial flowerbed for Rocky and Jax. And don't think just because it has been almost two years, that I didn't cry, because I did. Numerous times. But, once the plants I transplated take root and look fuller, I know I will be happy with it. All that's left is mulch.
I even got my front flowerbed under the big tree done. I was completely exhausted by Saturday night and couldn't move!! Had to go to sleep on a heating pad...but how I love working in my flowerbeds! I am actually excited because this year I know I am not teaching summer school and will have time to piddle in them every morning. Ahhhh!
This morning, we got up feed the homeless under the bridge with some people from our church and my cousin, Kayce. Always a humbling experience. Kevin was able to pass out 40 Bible's this morning and talk to two men about John 3:16 Ministries! Amen!

And our two rotten pups, well, they were happy to greet all visitors this weekend and help in the flowerbeds by keeping the dirt held down and the sticks chewed on. Stella was happy to give anyone her tennis ball as long as they would throw it. And after mowing, I found ALL her other ones!!
Rex is super grateful that daddy tilled up the garden area. He is secretly hoping that he doesn't plant anything and just leaves it for him because he sure loves digging in it! :)
And now, to move into testing week at school and hope that my mood from last week has completely disappeared!! :)

*Remember that enormous medical bill that I appealed and won? Got the new bill in the mail today, it went from nearly $7,000 to almost $300! I can handle that! :) *In other doctor news, I am a little irritated that Kevin and I BOTH called the Fertility Clinic and both spoke to someone who listened to our tale of woe and then sent us to a "voice mail". We both left messages with our numbers and heard NOTHING. Today, out of frustration, we called to see why we hadn't heard from anyone. Are we missing something? We are new to this game...share! And, we were told that they don't handle men's infertility. Ummm...HELLO?!?! Could you have told us that MONDAY when we called spilling our tale? Could someone have maybe called us back and TOLD us that? So, basically, we've gotten no where on that doctor appointment, but it wasn't from lack of trying. Kind of goes right along with same reason we needed to make the call in the first place! LOL! So....on to calling a Urologist. Anyone knows of a good one, send me the name! :)

In a Nutshell

If it could go wrong this weekend, it did. And, yet, every time it went wrong, there was a blessing along the way. Sometimes you just gotta look for those little blessings to stay sane!!! Here is basically how it went down: Keep in mind we need to be in Jonesboro at 2 pm to 3 pm ideally. 4 pm at the very latest. And, Jonesboro is a 3 hour drive. So, insert, the Suburban that hauls the trailer broken down. Trip to shop. No part. (Because really who carries parts for '89 Suburbans in stock????). While Kevin is at the shop, I go to Fred and Jack's and buy a weight distrubting hitch for the Tahoe to pull concessions trailer (insert $300 bill here). In the meantime, they find an alternator but it can't be delivered until 11:30 am (another $200). We can't wait because we have two errands to run AND a catering to drop off on our way to Jonesboro. So, I take Kevin to see the set up of the hitch so we can do put it together (it's complicated). Turns out, because of the front of the concession trailer, it would have to have slits drilled in it for the hitch to work. (Go ahead and insert a slight panic attack here.) Back to the shop we go and decide we have no choice but to wait on the part and while we wait, we will run 2 of the errands we need to run. They said they would have us up and running by 1 pm at the latest. And they did! Woohoo! Off we go and I follow in the Tahoe because 1. the passenger seat belts don't work in the Suburban 2. It's loud 3. I had a gut feeling we were going to break down again! We literally dump our catering off at an exit ramp on the way to Jonesboro and somehow make it there at 3:45 pm!!!! Praise Jesus! Then, we have no power. Yep, no power. Then, we discover somehow we left without the burgers. And the salt. And a can opener. A few trips to the store, help from my dad and Bubby, and an electrician and we were finally up and running. Flustered but running! And the people were nothing but friendly. Finally things settled down. Until.... The next day when we tried to head home. We spent the night at my parent's house - halfway to home. As we are pulling away, the Suburban is making a stallling sound. Turn around. Dad listens. Thinks we can make it. Go a little further, turn around and head back. It's worse. On the third turn around and going back to my parents house, we use the $300 hitch purchased the day before and hook it up to the Tahoe. With my dad's tools in the shop, he and Kevin had gotten the trailer and hitch put together that morning so we'd always have a back-up plan. Who knew we'd need it so soon!?! We made it home. Safe. Now, both '89 suburbans need to go to the shop. Big Bear is working on the pulling one. And, hopefully the other one will be in and out without costing an arm and leg. And, my husband still loves them. I, however, can do without either one of them!! :)

First the joys...

I am just going to show you the "good stuff" from the weekend in pictures...tomorrow, we will conquer all the drama and problems one after another. I am glad to say goodbye to this weekend for sure! But this made me smile...seeing my niece saddle up her very first pony. Time sure does fly! Now she can go out in the barn and do it all by herself!! Look at the eyes on the newest of the barn cats...gorgeous!! And little girl is missing a toe and is named Cripple and called Crip for short. That makes me giggle. She is so soft and pretty!!
Love some barn cats and I think Sylvester is BEAUTIFUL! He totally posed for this! pup meets horse. I think he wasn't as keen on going into the stalls after seeing what lived in there! He wouldn't even look at him! ha!
When we couldn't find Autumn, where do you think she was? Surrounded by? :)
Where did I spend my morning? Surrounded by puppy love. Of the Boxer kind. The BEST! Duke is getting soooo big!!
Love me some boxer play and boxer wiggles and kisses!
The joy from this weekend was getting a chance to spend time with family. I love watching my niece ride horses. I love watching the horses run in the pasture. I love sitting in the barn and looking for the kittens. I love walking around in the country. I love watching my dad and Kevin tackle a project together. I love getting a chance to STOP the madness of our schedule and spend some time with my mom. :)

Stay tuned for the drama tomorrow! ha!
