It all started when a friend said, "We have tickets to the Ole Miss game that we aren't going to use. Do you want them?" We thought about it for about 15 minutes or so and decided a roadtrip with a pit stop in Memphis would be good for the soul. :)
So, we hit the road EARLY Saturday morning to make it to Oxford for the 11:20 am game. In Benson fashion, we took back roads the whole way. And just enjoyed the scenery.
The Hogs are going through a transition year, and we lost. It's hard to watch at times, BUT they played better this week and last week than they have been. A true Hog fan can see the difference. I think Bielema can make us a good team. It just takes time, some good recruits and a decent quarterback. :)
Ok, we are horrible at "selfies"...enough said. A little Benson trivia you may not know...Kevin's freshman year, he actually went to Ole Miss and was a walk-on for the golf team. Funny that he started at Ole Miss and dislikes them so much now! Sophomore year, he was in Fayetteville where he belonged with Razorback blood running through his veins! ha!
After a disappointing game, we headed to Memphis to spend the night and eat some yummy food!! Kevin is the bomb at finding us good rates on downtown hotels. So, we checked in and then took the Main Street trolley to Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. OH MY GOODNESS! I saw it on tv and wanted to go since and it did NOT disappoint. BEST fried chicken EVER!
We walked about halfway back down the streets of Memphis and enjoyed the atmosphere and weather. Then, headed in to watch the Alabama/LSU game. We were so exhausted that I think it was the 3rd quarter when we were both snoring! LOL!
But, we got up the next day after sleeping like rocks and headed to Central BBQ. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! The only thing I really like about Memphis is the FOOD! YUM! :)
